Tenerife's ultra-modern arts centre, TEA known as `Tenerife Espacio de las Artes` is fast becoming known for backing the independent films. New movies and documentaries are shown every weekend in their original version with Spanish sub-titles. It is becoming a popular event as in the first three months of this year, 29 films were shown and they were watched by over 4,000 viewers . The Santa Cruz TEA centre is particularly keen to back Canarian films and has already premiered three in 2010, attracting a total audience of more than 1,100.
