Major tourist event held in Tenerife

Tenerife hosted a major Travel event between 10 and 13 of April in an effort to promote Tenerife as a major holiday destination to travel agents and representatives. The event "ven a Tenerife 2008" (come to Tenerife 2008) brought together over 1,300 travel agents and tour operators who where shown what Tenerife has to offer as a holiday destination and looked at the resorts in the North, South and Metropolitan areas. The visitors to the island where divided into two groups, one staying in the South of the island and one staying in the North of the island. However both parties experienced the attractions of both the North and the South as their program of events was identical. The Activities shown in the South where boat trips to see the whales, a cookery course and wine tasting at one of the local wine cellars and a visit to Siam Park - Which is the largest water park in Europe and is set to open in the spring. Tour operators and travel agents where also shown around the different holiday resorts in the South. On Saturday 12th, the two groups meet up in Santa Cruz, where a big party was staged with a few surprises that really impressed the travel professionals whose job it is to sell Tenerife as a holiday destination to tourists.
