Car registrations increase

Article added 02/07/2010

A total of 3,338 vehicles of all classes were matriculated in the Canary Islands in June this year. This was an increase of 36.2 % in comparison to June 2009, according to the information given by Ganvam (la Asociación Nacional de Vendedores de Vehículos a Motor, Reparación y Recambios). Las Palmas had the biggest increase of 55,5% and a total of 2,051 vehicles registered, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife a total of 1,287 vehicles and a percentage of 13,7%. Since there was a grant of 2,000 € for all new cars registered the figures have been better, but now as the grant is stopped the figures might well decrease. The Canaries had the second biggest increase of vehicle registrations throughout all of Spain, with Castilla-La Mancha being the first with an increase of 72,6 %.
